The mission of Falling Upstairs is simple.  We want to use technology to make lives better.

In the last few years, hundreds of millions of people have joined social networking sites like Facebook, LinkedIn, MySpace, Twitter and others.  Because of this social media technology, individuals, families and communities are able to connect in ways that were once unthinkable.  Impossible.  Businesses communicate with their customers, schools their students, people their government and religious institutions and their members in completely new ways.  Likewise, many social service providers are now better able to break down barriers for those living with disabilities and support those battling poverty, hunger or disease.

But much more can be done.  And should be done.  This journey is just beginning.

Therefore, we at Falling Upstairs Incoporated are committed to working with others in the field to help answer several basic questions.  One, how best can we use social media to improve lives?  And then secondly, how do we implement best practices when we find them to most efficiently help the greatest number of people?

Part advocacy organization, part think tank and part direct service provider, Falling Upstairs is a new organization.  Currently we are focused on analyzing social media sites and applications which can be used to improve the current delivery system of aid for those in need.  By conducting interviews, asking questions and supporting local laboratories of success, we hope to make a difference.  Very simply, we want to help people fall upstairs.
